Hi folks,

It appears that my FBI name check has finally cleared after 2.5 years. I filed a WoM recently. I received a letter today that stated that my application has been approved for permanent status and I should expect my alien registration card in a few days.

Questions:
- Will I receive a conditional card or a the actual card? considering we have been married close to 3 years.
- It has been barely a month since filing the WoM, and the case was approved. Is that common?

Here is my timeline:

- march 2005: applied for 485 and 130 based on citizen spouse
- apr 2005: fingerprinting
- aug 2005: 485 interview. told awaiting security clearance.
- oct 2005 - sep 2007: FOIA, numerous letters to senators, uscis ombudsman, numerous infopass, letter to 1st lady etc.
- oct 2007: infopass again to check case status (no progress)
- oct 2007: Filed WoM
- nov 2007: received re-fingerprinting mail
- nov 2007: AUSA wants to settle.

Answers:

- Since it was approved after 2 years of marriage you should receive the 10 year unconditional card.
- As far as the WoM (Writ of Mandamus) I do not think that is common.
