I have a question, i had applied for my Canadian Permanent Residence in Buffalo, New York. I just received my AOR last week. I never submitted my Fingerprints from the FBI and the PCC.

I had a question as to when shoudl i submit this to the consulate, i heard that it usually takes 2 + months to get the results from the FBI office. SO, should i apply right now and save time . Or should i have to wait till i hear anything from the consulate office.

Thanks a lot for all your help.

As you have received your AOR you dont need to worry about FBI clearance now. They will ask you to submit the FBI clearance after you get IA (initial assessment). You will have to wait for approx 8- 10 months for IA.

Since about Oct/04 all Buffalo applicants have to submit PCCs (FBI plus whatever countries) with their applications. The poster may have got an AOR, but there is a good chance that the application will be returned without processing in the near future. Get the RCMP prints and FBI done now.

As the file number has been received the application will not be returned. AOR is sent out after passing the initial paper selection which is done to determine if the application is complete and has all the supporting documents. This is the stage when the application may be returned for a number of reasons like missing documents and incomplete forms.

After the AOR is issued the application is put in queue to be looked at by an immigration official - as I had mentioned before that happens (On an average in Buffalo USA) in 8 months after the AOR.

I know Buffalo changed their requirements regarding FBI clearance in late 2004. But I have seen a number of applicants who have sent in their applications without FBI clearance and have received file number.

I personally would strongly recommend all the applicants to send in the FBI clearance with the initial application as there is a possibility that the application will be returned.

This is very important information for new comers who wants to start there immigration processing to canada regarding FBI and PCC. Please make this sticky.
