Hi All,
My Company mistyped my country of birth on my H1B Application and subsequently it was incorrect in I797 as well. When I went for stamping at the New Delhi Consulate, they suggested that I get it corrected. My lawyer filed another premium processing petition for ammendment. INS faxed (to both my lawyer and Delhi Consulate) a copy of Corrected I797. My lawyer is insisting that I go to the consulate for stamping with the faxed copy of I797 only. I dont want to take an unnecessary risk as I already had to return without visa that last time and dont want to take further chances. (I of course still have the old original I797).
Please advise if I should wait for the original I797 (I dont even know if INS sends another original I797 in such cases).
