Hi
I am planning to send a fax to my congressman to find the status of our 485.
Could please somebody share the template they have used and which has caught their congressman attention to help us inquire USCIS.

Appreciate your help in advance.

Dear Congressmen XXX,

My XXX (dependent) and I could use your help.

Our efforts to become the lawful permanent residents of the US have been held up by more than a year by the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) name check process. I understand that FBI background checks are critical for the nation’s security and that they take time. The urgency of this – and what prompted me to ask for your help – comes mostly from XXX - (list your concerns e. g. work, re-location, buying a house, financial help for education, SSA, etc.) . Without the permanent resident status (e. g. “green card”), I can not - list "change a job, move, get SSA", etc. . A call or email from your office to the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and/or FBI might be all that is needed to move this along.

Your story - how did you get here, why did you apply for CIS benefits, etc.
.....
and now, according to the information I have received from the USCIS, the FBI name check has now become a barrier.

After going so far and getting so close, we are now feeling helpless. That is why I am asking for your help.

Please take a moment of your time to contact USCIS and/or FBI to request complete the Adjustment of Status process of XX and me within some reasonable timeframe.

It will mean so much to me and – most importantly – to my (dependent) promising future. I thank you very much for your consideration. I listed our immigration information below. If you have any questions about handling this request, you may telephone me at XXX or at my office phone at XXX.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

XXXX
