Favorable Recommendation

Quick question,

Once the words "favorable recommendation" appear in the Department of State page....what is the next step?? Can I apply for a change of status immediately (to an H-1B) or do I have to wait until the USCIS gives formal approval of the waiver??
 
Yes, you can change your status from J-1 to H-1B after DoS "favorable recommendation". However you have to wait until you receive the DoS "favorable recommendation" by mail, i.e. you should have the "paper" in your hands. This topic is already discussed here. Please make a search.
