Hi there!
Which ways are appropriate/available to follow-up with USCIS on a pending J-1 waiver case?
Here is my situation: DOS sent a fav. rec. (No Objection) to USCIS CSC in Nov 2005. CSC mailed a receipt notice in Dec 2005 stating it takes 60 to 90 days to process this case. After 60 days I started contacting the Call Center (1-800-375-5283) and was told the case is still pending.. inquiries are only possible if the case is 30 days outside the projected processing time.. so I waited 90 + 30 days and called again.. this time the agent was willing to sent an inquiry to the CSC.. in addition to the phone calls I sent two follow-up letters to the CSC (in Mar & Apr) requesting an up-date.. no reaction so far..
More questions are:
- What's the right contact address at the CSC for follow-up letters in the mail?
- I heard of a fax process to request that a SC is speeding up a case. Any information?
- Is it possible to have a US citizen (e.g. fiancé) contacting his/her congressman to make a official inquiry about the case?
Please share insights/experiences/advices that the J-1 waiver journey becomes more transparent and less nerve-wracking. Thank you!
