Hi experts, pls advise.

My AP has Family Name and Two-part given name like "Horton, John Doe " where as my passport has only the given name "John Doe". In most my my documents in US I included my family name derived from my Fathers name which is listed on the last page of my passport.

While returning to US will there be any issue since name on AP and Passport are no exactly same ?

Will changing the name in passport before leaving US help (if its easy).

please advise?

thanks.

I don't have any definitive knowledge because, ultimately, such matters come down to how accepting the immigration officer is. If he or she decides to be a stickler about it, then you must be prepared to provide evidence that the bearer of the AP and the passport are the same person. You don't need to overdo it though, because your AP has your photograph on it. You should carry with you any official document (such as Drivers License, EAD) that has your family name. You could also sign an affidavit in front of a notary public in the US (before you leave) attesting to the fact that the bearer of the passport number xxxx named xxxxx and the bearer of the Advanced Parole with name xxxxx are the same person. This is mostly for peace of mind. Most immigration officers would know about cultural differences in naming people.
