Family Based Green Card

Hi, I have a question about eligibility for a family based Green Card.

I am from Australia and my Biological father resides in the US and is a US Citizen. He was from Australia also but gained entry some years ago through a Green Card won in the annual lottery.

When I was young, my parents divorced. My mother remarried a year later and I was then adopted by my new stepfather, gaining his surname.

I am in contact with my biological father and am wondering if there is a possibility in obtaining a Family Based Green Card based on the fact that he is my biological father? I have my original Birth Cert and other documentation proving everything.

Any advice would be welcome.

The adoption terminated the legal relationship to your biological father, which also ends the possibility of you obtaining family-based immigration benefits through him.

My dad who is a US citizen is sponsoring me, I can Canadian, 40, unmarried. Once the papers are submitted, how long will it take?
