Hi
My name is Siva.I will be getting US citizenship soon.
I want to apply the immigrant visa to parents. If my parents are in USA,it is just 3-6 months to get the Green card for them. But my parents are in INDIA now.If i apply for immigrant visas for my parents how long does it take to get the visa for them?Is there any better way to apply for immigrant visa, something like I can come to INDIA and apply for them in DELHI.One of my friend got the green card as his wife came to DELHI and applied for the CR-1 Visa.Similary is there any way that I could come to INDIA and apply for my parents, that shortens the time of their arrival here?

COULD YOU PLEASE REPLY MY SOON

Thank You
Siva

If you want to start the immigration process for your parents in India, then you can do either of these processes, whichever suits you.

DCF - Direct Consular filing. You have to be resident in India for at least 2 months before you apply for your parents at the Delhi Consulate. This process is supposed to be the quickest. You can find more info on the process here:

and also try the Delhi consulate's website.

CP - Consular Processing - If you are not in a big hurry to bring your parents here, then you can file I-130 at a Service center near you. Once it is approved, the case will be transferred to NVC (National Visa Center). NVC will keep sending you forms and fee bills, once you finish with the formalities, then the case will be transferred to the consulate closest to your parents. This process is somewhat longer starting at 8 + months.

Sorry to differ Jenimmi.

From the following link, I gather that DCF has become more difficult. Now, one has to be resident of India. A stay of just 60 days is not enough. Please read more details at the link.

Obviously, this is bad news. I really wish I can post only brighter aspects.

But, I hope this correct info helps our friends in planning.
