Family Application - Spouse field ?

Hi,
My husband is applying for OCI individually here in US. I am traveling to India with my kids and might be applying for OCI while there. In the online form, since I might choose the option Family as I am including my kids in my application, should i enter the Spouse field ? It looks like a mandatory field. But my husband is applying separately and me and my kids are only in one family application.

How does this work? Any couple have experience of applying separately while one of the applications is a Family application?

Leave the spouse field blank in the Online application. It is not mandatory. Thats what we did when my wife and kids applied for their OCI applications. But we submitted my US and Indian passport copies along with the application to show proof that both the parents are US citizens and previous Indian citizens. My wife's and kid's applications have been approved and we are getting ready to send our original passports to the NY consulate for the sticker.
