Family 1st preference and wait

Hi everyone,

I've been reading these forums for quite a while and decided to ask for your opinion. My petition was filed by my father in 2003 through I-130 being an adult son of a citizen. I see on the visa bulletin that they are currently processing 2001 applications. Am I still 2 years away, or could it really be another 4 or 5 years? I did some stats from the visa bulletin archives and it looks like it takes two years to move ahead one year in the priority dates. And 2001 hasn't moved for a while in the past two years. Is it possible that Family based 1 will get a jump this year to 2002?

Thanks for any info you can provide!

Hi Armen,

It's hard to tell. Not to discourage you, but sometimes the dates even go back... :(
Hope for the best! :)

P.S. Are you armenian? Are you in Armenia now?

Hi Anahit,

yes, I'm Armenian. When I posted this I was actually thinking oh maybe Anahit will reply to my post :)
No, I don't live in Armenia, I live in Germany under temporary visa which expires soon and I will have to go to Armenia. I'm not sure how much longer I can extend. My whole family is actually in the US, and they're all citizens, just waiting for me.

Glad to hear from another armenian on this forum. :)
I hope your date becomes current soon, so you could join your family here.
Have you been trying the DV lottery at the same time?

Yeah, not many of us here...
I hope so too, it's such a long process, and they always keep retrogressing and then moving forward. No one really knows what is going on at the NVC. Maybe some people sitting in the cubicles and throwing some coins and deciding, to retrogress or not to retrogress.
Yes, I've been trying and have had no luck so far.

Your family was lucky though, I remember reading that your sister won, and you were able to bring your parents as well? That's pretty good, and I'm sure you all feel better now.

Yes, my sister moved to US with her husband and children 2 months ago. My parents have been here since December, 2000. My dad's AOS is still pending, though. Anyhow, that's temporary.
Good luck to you!

I filed I-130 for family 1st in 2003 too. I hope the processing day will go faster....
But I am working in the US in H1b visa now. which month did you file AmernGer?
good luck to all!:o

Hey Calvin,

sorry for the very late reply. I filed in July 2003. Sitting and still hoping for the PDs to move faster...
Good luck to you as well!
