F2 visa to F1

hi I am on F2 visa, i have got admission for MS for spring 2002 with full funding,i want to change my status to F1 asap, please can anyone help me out here.
Is it possible for me to go to India and get it changed, or can the status change done in canada or mexico.
please help me as i would loose the admission to spring 2002. what documents are needed in the case.

Hi,

You are kind of late. You have to file for change of status from F2 and F1 and nowadays the same is taking about 6 months. Other choice would be go to India with your I-20 and try to get a F1 visa. In case your F1 is rejected you can come back to US on F2. Since you have full funding, I think you should not have a problem. SO talk to a attorney and go to India and get a F1 visa since on F2 you cannot get funding. I am not a attorney an dthis is not legal advice

Did you get your Visa

Hi Mangesh:

Did you get your visa? If so, where did you get it from? My wife is on H-4 and she recently got admission with full funding for Spring 2002. We need her visa to be converted to F-1 to accept the funding.

If we try from Canada, or India, if her visa F-1 application gets rejected, can she come back on H-4. Do you know what documents do we need to produce, especially, what kind of documents can we show to prove that she intends to go back to India after her studies?

Your response is really appreciated. Anyone else too, if you have any ideas please let me know.
