F2 visa for spouse when I am on OPT

Hi All,

I have graduated in December 2006 and currently I am on OPT till October 2007. I am working as full time employee and will get H1 in this years quota. My F1 visa expires in 2009.

I am getting married next month and want to bring my wife on F2 visa. The other option is that I wait for my H1 to be granted and I apply her H4. I cannot wait till then.

I would appericiate if someone help me in these queries:

1. How old can be the financial certificate issued by the bank from the date of interview ?

2. I will be getting married next month but I already got dependent I20 issued before marrieage itself. Is it a potential issue during the VISA interview.

3. The VISA interviewer migth ask that I am already done with my studies. He might argue that I am working full time and company would sponsor my H1. In this case wont he consider my wife as potential immigrant. He will know that I will be applying for her H4 soon once I get my H1 visa.

I would be highly obliged if someone helps me on this issue.

F2 Visa when F1 person is on OPT.

I believe they require last 2 months bank statement. You can get 15 days in advance. Tell your banking officer that you need it for immigration. That is especially made for VISA. Or else you can just take one statement on bank letter head and attach online printout to it which I did. But previous option is more official.

Getting I-20 before marriage would not be big issue. Since some universerties give you dependants I-20 on your engagement and planning of marriage. You can tell VISA officier that you were engaged before issueing I-20. I-20 doesn't seem to be big deal.

Main critical point your wife interview would be of potential immigrant. But we never know absolutely what VISA officer can ask. You can tell that you are in USA for gain experience. Your wife is coming for just visitng purpose. Or else one more thing you can do is apply for visitors visa for her right now and when you will get H1 apply for her H4 same time.

Am also in same boat now, my spouse is applying soon for F2 and am on OPT. Is that good to show my pay stubs and how much bank balance is good for the interview, as am thinking to show my bank account(US) as a sponsor.
Please guide me..How was your spouse experience i hope positive thing happened for you..tc
