I am graduate student finishing my PhD in December 2007. I got engaged in September and now I am trying to find out, what is the optimum date for visa interview for my fiancee after our marriage.
* I am on F1-visa , renewed it in August for 5 years.
* I will be graduating in December 2007, and my I-20 is valid till Dec 2007.
* I have applied for OPT in October and should get my OPT card in
December or January.
* If we get married in late october , will my fiancee have problems in
getting a dependent visa based on my F1-visa and I-20 in November. I
have financial assistance from my school, and will show enough money
to support myself and my wife.
* Will her chance of getting visa improve if I have a job offer or my OPT card ?
* If we get married in December, what are her chances for getting visa
? Will it help if I have a job offer or OPT card ?
* I will be on OPT in 2008, can my wife get a F2 dependent visa based
on my OPT/F-1 status ? what are her chances for visa, if I have a job
and if I do not have a job.
