Hi
I have a question about my wife's application for her F2 visa. I am about to finish my PhD and my current I-20 expires on August 1, 2008. I have not applied for OPT yet, but I do have an I-20 from my university recommending my OPT application. I currently have an RA appointment with the University and that is reflected on my I-20. I also have an offer and acceptance letter for a tenure-track faculty appointment starting Fall 2008. My questions are:
1. Is it OK to apply for an F2 visa with just 3 months remaining on my I-20?
2. Do I need to show evidence of financial support in addition to my RA salary that is listed on the I-20?
3. Will it help if my wife mentioned that I have applied for OPT and have an offer letter? The problem with doing this, as I see it, is that the tenure-track appointment in some ways implies immigration intent?
Any suggestions will be most appreciated.
Thanks!!
