hi there,

there are so much information floating over the internet that it confuses me..my concern is that i am currently on an F1 visa..recently, my boyfriend and i got married..he is a us citizen..what visa status should i be changing to?

You would file for a CR-1 (Conditional Resident 1) category.

To start the process you will need to file:
I-130 Petition for Alien Relative (filed by your husband)
G-325A: Biographical questionnaire must be included with the I-130 for you and your husband (print two for you, since you also need one for the I-485)

I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status
G-325A: Biographical questionnaire must be included with the I-485 for you
I-693 Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record (must be in a sealed signed envelope from a authorized civil surgeon)
I-864 Affidavit of support (if I am reading your user name correctly your husband is in the military, which means he has to show 100% of the poverty limit, and not 125%)

Please read the instructions on all of the above forms and make sure to include the initial evidence requested.

The current cost of the applications are:
I-130: $355
The I-485 package (including all other forms, except the I-130, plus the two optional forms below): $1010 (that is $930 plus an $80 biometric fee)

You can also include an:
I-131, Application for Travel Document - when this is approved, it would provide you with advance parole so you can travel while your permanent resident application is pending.
I-765 - Application for Employment Authorization Document - when this is approved you will receive an Employment Authorization Document (EAD) so that you can work in the US while your application is pending.

There is a forum for family based green cards: http://forums.immigration.com/forumdisplay.php?f=39
