F1 Visa Stamping in Canada

Hi All,

I was on H1B visa. I switched to F1 last year by means of change of status. Now I have an appointment in Canada next week to get my visa stamped. Does anybody know how safe is it to go and get visa stamped in Canada. Is it worth taking the risk as I may not be in condition (schools are due to start on 8th Jan) to go back to India in the event my visa is rejected.

thanks

There is no telling. If you are denied in Canada, you will be required to go back to India to straighten your visa issue out. You will not be allowed back in with your current visa status.

Must you get your visa stamped now? If you don't plan on travelling out of the US, as long as your I-20 is current and you are in-status (F1), I don't understand why you have to get your visa stamp now. I would wait till the summer unless you absolutely must get the stamp by law or for other reasons.
