I had posted my question earlier regarding the experiences of people and suggestions anyone had on a renewal for a F1 Visa. I am currently a Phd student in the US and my F1 expires in July 2005. I have heard that the F1 renewal is not a big problem although not a gurantee. The big question and the reason why i am writing to the forum for advice is the fact that i got married in the process and wife is currently in the US and working with a H1 Visa. Also, she has initiated her green card process and i wanted to know if anyone would think this would go against in my process of renewal.
On one hand i can definetely show the intention of going back to India to parallely help my father with his business there and that being a strong proof of bonding and ties back there and on the other hand its contradictory to them to know that we have initiated a green card process.
Can anyone please comment on the situation with anything that they feel.
Also, does anyone know for sure if the renewal is rejected do they have the authority to cancel an existing F1 ??
I was told that they cannot cancel an existing F1 because of which i may still be able to get back to US on that existing visa if i go for my renewal in advance before the existing F1 expires and then make sure i dont leave the country till i finish my Phd.
