I came to the US in November 2014 on an H4 visa. In March 2015, I converted to an F1 visa, and I am currently studying in UCSC Silicon Valley Extension. I do not have the F1 visa stamped in my passport, but I do have all the necessary documents. My certificate program will get over in December 2015. I plan on applying for OPT in October 2015.
Last week, a family emergency arose, and it might be necessary for me to travel back to India at short notice. I wanted to know:
1. If I travel to India, will I need to make an appointment with a US consulate to get my F1 visa stamped?
2. Is there a chance that my visa can get rejected?
3. Should I ensure I travel before I apply for my OPT? Can I travel after I've applied for it?
