F1 visa extension

Hello all,
My wife is completing her Masters in The US and her F1 visa is valid till december 2003. Since she took the summer off she only finished in May 2004. Does she need to extend her visa or does she need a new I20? or does she need to do both? Any suggestions comments will be very helpful.

She needs to talk to the grad school of the respective university and she should request for I-20 extension.
