Well i came to US for a phD and so my F1 is valid till 2006, but now i have decided to get out of the univ after my MS (by dec\'02). i believe i need to have my i-20 changed from that for a phD to the one for an MS (thats what i have been told). thats no big deal. but the prob is that i would not be able to do that till end of aug\'02.
1. now is there any rule that forbids me to file an OPT without changing my i-20?
2. can i file an OPT on a phD i-20 without actually completing phD?
3. if i file my OPT after getting the MS i-20, that would be by the end of sep\'02, and here in CA it takes abt 4 months to get an OPT, which means i\'ll get the opt by jan\'03 end and since i would have graduated by dec\'02, would that mean that i would be out of status for a month (though i have my visa till 2006, so to me it doesnt make sense, but with a changed i-20 i am not sure)?
