F1 to H4

My wife\'s F1 OPT expired on 4th Feb. I had filed for her H4 around the end of december but it has not been approved yet.
Would she have to leave the country and get H4 stamped or she could remain in the US and wait for INS to approve her H4 petition.
The reason I am conerned is because I believe there is a 30 day window after OPT expires that a person can remain in US.

I would appreciate if anyone has any answer for the above question

As long as you have applied for the H4 transfer before the expiry of her current status, she should be safe.
