F1 to H4 for only 18 days

Hello,
Is it advisable to get a H4 from Mexico until the new H1B is effective(ie Oct 2nd 2006)

Please advice.

if you leave a country during the period when you have applied for change of status, it may cause problems. do some more research on this.
