Came to US on F1 in 2000. After a year changed to H1B but continued with my Masters studies in the evening. I am finally graduating in Dec 2002.

My H1B was granted on the basis of a previous Bachelors degree.
Never been out of status. Never went out of US since I came in.

Friends tell me I should go to canada to get the H1B stamped in my passport. Do I have to ?Any risks or problems I should Anticipate?

Any one with knowledge /ideas/guesses on this issue -please respond. Thank you.

As long as your I-94 (the one that came with your H1 approval) has not expired, you do not need a visa stamp. You can get it when you travel next time.

Does it make a difference that I will not be travelling to my "home" country? My passport and original F1 visa were issued in country A and I plan on travelling to India on a visitors visa. So can I still the new H1 stamped in India ?

Thanks

I think it is fine. But it is best to contact the consulate in India and ask them beforehand. They usually reply to emails.
