F1 to B1/B2 to H1B

I was in F1 visa, from Jan 2003 - July 2005, and my OPT expired on 06/19/2006 (grace period not included). My employee filed for I-129 (H1B advanced degree quota) in April and my receipt is dated 04/26/2006(while I was still in OPT). When my OPT was about to expire I applied for B2 (using I-539) to be in legal status after 06/19/2006 (OPT end date) to 10/01/2006(H1B start date). I got I-539 approved before I-129 got approved.
My I-129 is still pending and havent gotten any response, update or query from USCIS regarding my status. Will I go out-of-status If I dont get my H1B status update befor 10/01/2006(last date of B2 visa). Your suggestion will greatly help take actions accordingly.

I talk to USCIS every week, some representative say I can stay here legally since my application is pending with them and some say I have to wait for approval in my home country. I dont know what exactly I should be doing and my lawyer has changed my petition to premium processing (a week before).
Now, Is it worth extend my B2 status, by filing another I-539, till I get my H1B status approval.

Hello, we are in a similar position with expiring J visas and a pending I-140.
I was wondering on what grounds you applied to get a B visa - we were thinking of just asking for an extention of stay request - did you have to leave to US to get your B visa??
 
Hello, I just wondered what you put in your B visa application that got it approved - I am in a similar situation as I need to extend my stay here - I am currently on a J1 expiring Feb 7th 2006 and want to change to B visitor so I can stay in the US while I investigate setting up a business and eventually change status to E2.
