hi,
I'm a graduate student ,currently on F1 Visa.
I have got an opportunity to intern in Switzerland from June-Dec 2007. This is a very good opp for my career prospects.
On checking in various forums & also on official US immigration sites,i got to know that staying outsside US for more than 5 months will automatically cancel my F1 Visa.
My international advisor says that not true & i can return on the same visa. She will issue me a new I-20(new SEVIS).I'm confused as to whom to believe.PL help
Will the credits i have earned till now also be added to this new SEVIS? or will i have to start it all over again ? International office says it will be counted.
Also,if i will have to apply for a new F1 visa at mUmbai, will it be like applying fresh? Or,as i was issued F1 in June 2006 will the process be simpler?
pl reply ASAP as i will decide on whether to go for this internship or not within 2-3 days.
