F1 renewing...urgent need to plan

Hi All,

I am on F1 visa and my visa expires in the first week of June 2005.

Now, i can easily stay on by getting an extension on I-20 and maintain my F1 status. however, since i am planning to go to India in March end i thought i get my visa renewed.


My question:::: Will the counsulate in India issue me a new visa 2 months before my exisiting F1 expires? or it is the case that they will say "well, u have 2 months so why renew it, u can enter and stay on F1 status"?


I will be really grateful if anybody can shed light on this or has had similar experience. I need to decide fast as i have to get all the documents and most importantly an appointment.

F1-visa extension

Hello Gurus,

My current F1-visa expires in Nov 2005, and I need to visit India in Jan 2006. I will be completing my degree in March 2006. Can I get my F1-visa extension/renewed stamped in Canada? Or do I have to get the extension only in India?
I will be getting my new I-20 from my university


The visa interview dates in India are not available until February 2006.
