F1 renewal, Out of status before

I want to know what my chances are of getting my F1 visa renewal approved. I came to the USA in January 2005. I maintained my status all through until August 2009. That semester (August - December 2009) I was unable to be registered in school due to financial issues. I remained in the USA while out of Status. My internationals students office told me to leave the country and return in other to reinstate my status. I left in December 2009 and returned in January 2010. Thankfully it was successful. My visa then expired a few days after I got back into the USA

I registered for classes that semester and I graduated in June 2010. I got into another school for graduate school and would be starting in August 2010.

My sister would be getting married back home in December. This is the only sister or sibling I have. I want to be at the wedding. Once I leave, I would have to renew my visa in order to come back. I what to know what my chances are of getting the visa? Would it be easier to renew it in Mexico or canada before december? anyone being in this situation before? Should I go home for the wedding and renew it as well? please help me. Thanks

As long as your I-20 is valid and you can produce all the necessary documents (e.g. financial documents), then you should be able to reapply for a visa at the US embassy without any problem.
