F1 renewal and F2 issues. Urgent.

Hi,
This is regarding my F1 visa renewal. I will be leaving for India to renew my F1 visa. My spouse is on F2 right now and in the U.S.
I want to know if my spouse has to travel along with me to India to get a new F2 visa?

Any information will be appreciated.
