Hi guys, here is my story:
I came as a F1 visa (foreign student) in January 1998. In January 2002, I transferred from a community college to a university. The International Student Office failed to process my transfer to the INS. The ISO found about it in July 2003 while issuing the new I-20s. So I had to apply for reinstatement (September 2003). I graduated in December 2004. My reinstatement was granted in February 25 2005. I could not apply for OPT within the deadline because my reinstatement was not granted yet. Now it seems that if the school ask SEVIS for an I-20 for OPT it will be denied.
My questions are:
What is my actual status now? Do I have to live the US?
Can I contact the SEVIS people in order to try to get an extension on deadline?
Thank you very much for your help.
