New to this forum, but have a few questions regarding filing of i485 and i765.
Hoping someone can help answer.
I am on OPT (got married to a us born citizen)and have filed for
i765, i485, i131 and i-130.
I got married in sept and applied for my adjustment of status on oct23rd 06
reciept notice date is 10/27/06.
had my fingerprinting on 11/13/06 and now i am waiting for my EAD approval and card.
My OPT expires on Jan 5th 2007. My lawyer said, the ead card should be received just in time, and so i may not have to quit my job.
questions:
If i do not receive my ead by 5th of jan, can i continue working?
Should i try and get my OPT extended for one month? (I was told I am allowed to do that)(** Reading another post, now I realize I am not on F1 or OPT anymore? but I am still working!!!)
Can I contact the USCIS now to find out the status?
ANy advice would be helpful.
