F1 OPT married to USC

Hi all,

I have question regarding the application process for green card through marriage. I came to US in F1 Visa in 2007. I recently completed my masters and am working in a company as full time for about 6 months in OPT. I married my girl friend who is US citizen. She and I were in love since high school, back in my country. Yes she came to US through DV lottery and got the citizenship afterward. I want to apply for green card through her before my OPT period ends. So, I want to know if I can do it all by myself or do I need a lawyer to do that. I have collected a rough idea about the process but if anyone can state a clear information regarding this will be very helpful for me and I will really appreciate that.
I have few doubts in mind. My wife still a student and is doing her masters and I am working and we are in different states. So, we are not staying together but I go to meet her when ever I have time and she does the same. Will that be a problem in my process?
Also, we haven't done a formal marriage ceremony / reception till now. We are thinking of doing that according to our culture back in my country. So, basically we don't have any proof of social function of our marriage except the court marriage paper. Can this cause problem?

Hopefully I will get my answers soon. I really thank you a ton in advance and anticipating helpful guidance and response.

Thanks
Samir
