I was on OPT and my H1-B was effective Oct 1st-08. I have been hearing a lot about having to go to home country for first time stamping. I hear ppl say that few consulates allow it and few dont. I checked few websites, and to this effect nothing has been mentioned in any of the Consulates in Canada, although, couple of consulates in Mexico have clearly mentioned that they do not accept change of status applications. Can someone please confirm this? I want to go to India very soon for personnel reasons.
Also, if I go to India, what are the chances that my visa will be rejected? I came to the US on a dependent visa and converted to F1 and now on H1-B working as Full time employee for a furtune 500 company. Are there chances that my H1-B will be rejected on the basis that I could be a potential immigrant? Any response would be highly appreciated. Thanks
