Here is the question, if I entered the US with F1 visa, then after study, got H1 visa. But I don't have H1B visa stamp on my passport. If I want to visit my country, do I have to apply the H1B visa at my country or I could get a stamp here from St. Louis and use that to reentry the US?

Thanks for the help!

You have to go back to your country for the new visa. if you want to continue you can continue with out visa in your passport with H1 approval with new I-94 form.

That is upto you, when you want to comeback you have to have visa in your passport with H1 from your country.

All the best

I was on F1 and OPT (Biotech) from INDIA. I got H1 from a Research Non Profit Organization.

Mean while, I got my Canadian PR, landed recently in Toronto
and took an appointment for H1 B stamping.

At the interview everything went well, they took index finger prints and told me that it takes 3-4 weeks for clearence from Washington DC.

Any body experienced the same situation @ Toronto US Consulate, If so how many days they took to stamp H1?

It seems my profession is listed in TAL, TEchnology ALert list.

I have submitted all required documentation, Am I short of some thing which i overlooked?

When I took the apointment over phone they told me that its a matter of 2-3 days for clearance after taking finger prints.
But when I went to consulate in person its 3-4 weeks for stamping.

I am working now and took only a week off but Its tough for me to afford 3-4 weeks off

I am little bit concerned about the time they take.

I appreciate if any body can share info with similar situation
