I am on F-1 status and my I-20 expires on August 1. i am actually planning to discontinue my studies and go for H-1 as there is an employer who is willing to sponsor h-1 for me. As we know that the h-1 is effective only from Oct 1 2004. if my h-1 is filed next week(July 1), i.e before my i-20 expires, would i be in a valid status to stay in USA . Would be i be eligible for a grace period of 60 days(from Aug 1 to Oct 1) , i dont have an OPT as i didnt graduate. it would be of great help if anyone could advice me about my situation.
