F1 expired - Marriage planned

I came to the US on a student visa. Now my OPT has expired and I have become out of status. I am planning to marry a US citizen. My question is : once we mary, will I have to leave the US for getting a change of status.
 
If you are out of status. You should not leave the USA doing so you will automatically be barred from the US for 10 years.

Adjust your status in the U.S. I reckon you may have to pay a fine of a 1000 $ form I 485 A (supplement to I 485)
