F-1 visa work question

Was on F-1 visa and worked for an outside company, but did all of my business on campus. Found out this did not count as on campus employment after employment ended (~1 week, commision only). Explained my visa status before getting hired and was hired anyways. Someone in the company offered to pay 80% of earnings as a gift, or 100% but report the income. If I file taxes on it, will it likely be okay? (My total income is under the deductible so I wouldn't pay taxes on it anyways). I have graduated on gone back to my home country and am no longer on F-1 status, though I may want to apply to graduate school in the US in the next couple of years. Any advice?

student was engaging in employment that was not authorized for his or her status.

Use when the student works without authorization or continues otherwise authorized employment beyond the approved dates. Note where the student worked and the circumstances. Provide as many details as possible in the remarks. In the case where a student engages in CPT that could have been authorized due to a misunderstanding or other error use Otherwise failing to maintain status.
