F-1 visa stamp issue

I came to U.S on a visit visa from pakistan and filed for F-1 visa. I got approved my F-1 visa application but my consular at the school said that your I - 20 is your F-1 status not F-1 visa. My consular said in order for me to travel back to my country for a visit, I can leave the United States easily, immigration wouldn't stop me from leaving but in order for me to come back I would need to have my passport stamped from my country. I do not want to take a risk of rejection of my visa from my home embassy. I was wondering if I could get my passport stamp within United States somewhere. My advisor also told me that I could travel to canada to have my passport stamped from a Pakistani Embassy in Canada but again if they rejects your request you will not be allowed to enter back in United States and they may also deport you from there directly.

Please advice.
