F-1 Visa and DV Lottery

Hi,

I am considering applying to a US university in two or three years time. I would of course require an F-1 visa for this. It is my understanding that an F-1 visa is only granted if you convince the interviewer that you have no intention to remain in the US after it expires.

I am considering entering the DV lottery this year. I am concerned that a past application to the DV lottery could be seen as an intention to immigrate, and that my F-1 could be declined on this basis.

Is it common for interviewers to ask about past DV lottery applications? Could they know that I had entered the lottery?

Thank You

They never asked. Don't volunteer information. Also, you are allowed to use a US mailing address in the DV entry, so they understand that legal non-immigrant may apply for DV while they are in the US.
