F-1 to H-1 Gap Issues.. Please Help

Hi All...

I got my undergrad degree in July 2004.My OPT expires in August 2005. Companies are scared in hiring me because they say , if we do ur H-1 it will begin from October 2005. How do i tackle this issue. I know for 2004 they allowed people with Gaps in between f-1 to h-1 to stay and work as long as the h-1 was filed.

I would appreciate all the help....

Confirm this-- dont take my word

As far as I know you should have no problem in working till august 2004 (on opt) but after that you will not be able to work till october till your H1 STARTS. But you will be able to stay in this country as you have a 2 month grace period after OPT.

Just wondering--since when has this "F-1 to H-1 gap" become an issue? Wasn't it possible to change from F-1 (OPT) to H-1 anytime during the year? Do people have to be strategic regarding the time frame of OPT nowadays?
