F-1 Student trying to work ON Campus

Ok, I'm an international Student and I hold a F-1 Visa.
I've been here since may 2008.
And I'm a full time student in a community college.
I'm trying to get a job on campus to make some extra money and cover some of my costs or just save up really.
But the International Student office at my school says I'm not allowed to work ON or OFF campus unless I show economic hardship.
And from the researches I did I found out that is not true.:(
Is there any Offcial document or Law that I can show to the person at school that I'm allowed to work. Because I know they have jobs.

Thank you!

You do not need any authorization to work on campus. Check out the USCIS website for the rules.

Thats exactly what I need but I can't find it at the USCIS website!
I want the rules so I can take them to school!

I am not sure where it is on the USCIS website but your International Student office is very il-informed as well as non supportive.

An international student is expected to have sufficient funds for their educational and living expenses in order to receive a student visa.
Did you misrepresent your funding as is often done to ontain an I-20 and F-1?

Almost all jobs available on a community college campus are work-study jobs given to USCs and LPRs as part of their financial aid package. An international student would be last in line.

Work on F1 requires work authorization. An international student cannot just go out and get a job.

The DSO IS the definitive resource for an international student. e3visa, show proper respect for this university officeial.
