F-1 I-90 on a B visa

Hi,

I was stamped a F-1 D/S on my I-90 by the consular officer.
Does this mean I am a student now and can stay until I finish what I came here to do?

You do have a valid F-1 Visa right? I think that's true since if you were allowed entry in the US with your B-1 they would have placed a date on your I-90 and I-94.

When I entered the US in 2008, I had both a valid F-1 and B visa but because I entered within 30 days of the start of the semester (as per instructions under F-1) I was stamped with F-1 D/S by the immigration officer.
