extra work in the same field as H1-B visa?

I am working as a piano teacher with H1-B visa for a music company since August 2005. I have been asked to perform in recitals which I would get paid for my performances. From what I heard from musician friends, I can have the checks from performance fees go through my music company that I teach for and they can deduct the tax and add it to my regular pay check.

I cannot obtain another visa for my performaces because I am not employed by any company to do so, just a freelance pianist. The music company has agreed that they don't mind if I perform because it will be good for them as advertisement. I just want to make sure that I am not violating any immigration law by doing this.

Does anyone have an experience or knowledge of such circumstances?

Thanks
