Hello all, I have PERM filed at Atlanta for around 30 days, in the event that it is certified and my I140 approved on premium processing - I still have to wait for a visa number which could be some time as I am EB3 (skilled worker) from the "rest of the world" EB2 is current and there is a wait of 4 years for EB3! I am currently working for the company sponsoring on a work permit as I am on a J2 visa, my husband is on a J1 and is also working - we are not subject to 2 year HRR. My question is that there must be some way to stay in the US while waiting to apply for I485? We both have social security numbers, driving licences for the next 10 years and jobs and are settled - it seems crazy that we would have to leave the US for a few years!!! Does anyone know the chance of having a extension of stay granted ? I did make an appointment at my local USCIS office and the Immigration Officer said she was sure I would be OK to stay if my I485 was pending but she did not really seem to know any more than I did! Any advice would be much appreciated.
