Extension of L1/L2

My husband and I are on L1 and L2 respectively. Our first 3 yr visa tenure expires on Feb 15th 2001. But our I94 is valid till Aug 3rd 2003. We have filed in for our extensions and received recepits. How long can we stay legally in this country till our visas get approved.
