Hello,
I am an M.B.B.S. graduate from India currently in U.S. on a B1/B2 visa. I took my step 2 CS exam in Aug in Atlanta...the results were expected around december...but due to an unusal delay they havent yet arrived. The step 2 CS results are required if I have to do residency on J-1 in U.S and step 2CS and step 3 are required to do residency on a H-1 visa in the U.S. My plan was to take step 3 and and then go to India so that I can come back to U.S. on a H1B visa. To take step 3 I should have cleared step2 CS...but as I mentioned the results have been delayed this year and hence I am unable to take the step 3 as planned, in this visit. I therefore need to stay longer in the US to take my Step 3 exam.
It would be helpful to me if you could advice me on whether to extend my stay in U.S. or to go back and then apply for B1/B2 visa from India.
If I have to extend my stay how long does it take to receive the permission(I came to U.S. on july 24 and my stay expires on Jan 22,2005)?
Thanks for your patience and time.
Regards,
Aiswarya
