Extension for time out of country

Hi,

Did anyone here apply for extension based on time spent out of country, is it usually approved or can they deny.

My H1 expires on june 4th 2003, I was out of the country for 7 months in these 6 years. Did anyone here get approved for cases like this.

I applied for 5 months to capture time out of US. They ddin't deny. But they didn't approve. They gave me extension from 09/17/2003 - 02/21/2003 which I already have. I dont know whey they did that. My company sent a fax to them stating that this is an INS error. No word from them till now. It is better not to depend on that. I learned a big lesson from this.
