My mother in law came to us in June 2002 and we extended her visa that time and she stayed here for one year. She came back again within 6 months and stayed here for 6 months. She has come again now( after 8 months) and has got visa for 6 months. We plan to apply for her visa extension this time , after she completes 6 months. Has anybody applied for visa extension tiwce? What are the odds of getting approval? Should I apply for it. I eventually want to apply for her green card . By any chance if her extension is rejected, will it affect her case for green card?I am a green card holder ( don't know if it adds any value). Any suggestion will be appreciated.

If BCIS sees a pattern in her visits that is inconsistent with her visa status, they may refuse any further extensions.
Your green card does not help in getting her a green card. Your husband needs to be a US citizen.

I think you got your dates wrong, if she came in June 2002 and extended for 1 year, she would still be in the US!

yes, dates were wrong. She came in June 2000, stayed till June 2001. Came back in Dec 2001 and went back in May 2002. Came back again in March 2003. So she has been here for most of the time. We plan to apply for her GC after we get citizenship ( way to go for that ). So we plan to keep her with her on B visa with us till then.

hello ilina

Hello ilina:

What are the documents did you send when u applied first time for extension.

Did u send the ticket copy also ? I got the itinerary which has one segment confirmed and other segment in waiting list.

I am not sure is that OK to send that itinerary.

No, I didn't send any copy of tickets. I just sent I-94 and that INS form plus a letter , why I want to extend her stay.

Hello Friends:

My mom does not read or write in english. Is that OK if she signs in extension application and cover letter etc...??

Anybody else has to sign has preparer ? any issues...

Please post your comments.......lot of people probably came acrosss this.

Thanks.

I am thinking for applying for an extension for my wife's B 2 visa. Is it pretty much always granted? Is it always given for 6 months ? What documents will be needed to apply?
