Extend or change E2 Visa

Hello all, I'm hoping somebody can help me with my issue.

My friend obtained an E2 visa in Dec. 2007 as he was helping a department store from Mexico set up operations in Texas, Puerto Rico and New York. About a year ago he stopped working for the store and 7 months ago moved back to Mexico.

I'd like for him to work for me. His principal place of work will be in Mexico but there will be times where he will need to travel to the US. Can I help him extend his E2 visa or would there be a different one required. He will be helping me with mortgage loan activities in Mexico for Americans, Canadians and Mexicans.

Prior he was a manager and purchasing agent for a women's boutique type store and they got him the visa he now has.

Once your friend stopped working for the E-2 sponsoring company his visa became no longer valid. He would need to apply for a new E-2 with your company as the sponsoring organization. You cannot switch between companies on the E-2, rather you must apply again under the new company.
