Expiring EAD and Interview

This may be a stupid question but....

My husband has his AOS interview in June in Philly but his EAD is expiring in August. So not enough time in between to apply for EAD if we don't leave with a CPR approval. Should I just have him apply for his renewal or is there some law that would allow him to get an interm EAD if for some reason they can't approve him that day?

I'm just trying to save us some money and a trip to philly for fp.

I would say just apply to renew the EAD. I am not aware of any rules that will allow him to apply for intrim in his situation. I can understand you are trying to save some money and a trip but think if in case he don't get the stamp on interview day ( I hope it never happen to anyone) then he will be in big problem.
 
That's what I thought. Oh well. Hopefully we'll be USCIS free soon(for two years!).
